CRAFT: DIY Catalog Collage Art Piece

I don't know about you, but I love having original art... and I hate paying for it.  I also love having art pieces that are customized to my decor.  This little project is so easy that you could even do this with your kids.. and as a result you will end up with a one of a kind, eye-catching art piece for your home.
It also gives you a way to use all those catalogs you get in the mail and never want to throw away!

You will need a frame, a stack of catalogs, a sheet of poster board or card stock, a glue stick and scissors or an exacto knife.  Scan through your catalogs and cut out pieces with complimentary patterns and colors to match whatever room you will be displaying it in.  Cutting too much is always a good thing!  I used West Elm catalogs for this specific collage.

Figure out what side you want to use of each cut and the general area of where you want it before you start gluing.

I like using triangles because they're easy to match up on the paper, plus they result in a pretty awesome looking geometric blob.

Give plenty of time to let the glue dry before putting in the frame... otherwise, you'll never get it out again!

Display and style your masterpiece so everyone can tell you how awesome it is!  ((I ended up spray painting my frame black... I think the contrast helps the piece stand out a little more!))
