2014: New Year, New Hope

2013 was such an exciting year for us at ESM.  This little creative venture of ours turned into something we never expected to happen so quickly... a success.  It has challenged us to push our creative boundaries, put ourselves out there and work so incredibly hard.  We've grown quite attached to our readers.  Without you, ESM wouldn't be anything.

Over the past few months we have spent a lot of time thinking and praying about the direction of ESM and each of us individually.  Those of you that blog know the demands set on you and that it cannot simply be a hobby if you want it to be successful.  We've realized this, harshly, over the past year.

With much consideration, we have decided that it is time for us to take a sabbatical.  This decision was not made lightly and with so much heart ache.  This blog is so much a part of us.  We've put our hearts into this, but now, it's time for us to focus on other things.  Over the past year we've missed out on things happening right in front of us because we had to finish a project or edit photos.

It's time for us to stop and actually see what's happening in our lives, in our families and appreciate it.

ESM isn't dead.  We've decided to keep this blog up so we can each post when we feel inspired and have to share.  It just won't be a regular schedule anymore.

We hope you all understand and will support us in our choice.

Thank you for making this past year so worth all the hard work.  We adore you all and hope to see you round the blogosphere.  Much love and appreciation to you!

  2. I totally understand this! Family is VERY important - I myself am taking a breather this year to concentrate more on my family as well. Keep positive with your new Etsy shops as well-you both are very talented!! Of course, I will check in on ESM to see if there is anything new. Happy New Year to you both! :)

  3. It takes strong people to be able to walk away from something that is successful to focus on what truly matters. It sounds like those prayers have paid off. Good for you! We'll be here ready for your next post... Whenever that may be.

  4. I know this was not an easy decision for either of you, but just as with any business, you cannot put everything you have into your business and ignore your family. If you do, in the end all you will have is a business and not the love of your family and the joy in watching them each day and sharing in their lives. Family really should always come first, even though at times it can be extremely difficult. A decision like this is one of those extremely difficult times, but while we will miss all the great things posted by each of you, we all should understand as well that your lives need to balance with your families and sharing in their lives, not watching from a window while working on your business/blog. Good luck. Have a great year. I'm sure there will be times we'll see you posting here and there, and thank you for leaving the blog open for those times when you just feel the need to share or be creative.
